How it works

Less searching. More solving.

One tool, two simple ways to get unstuck.

01

Fit your crossword pattern

Enter the letters you know and use question marks for the missing squares, such as C??S?W?RD. Add the clue alongside to keep it in view.

02

Or unscramble loose letters

Type up to 15 letters, add a question mark for a blank, then choose whether every letter must be used.

Why LikelyWord feels different

The dictionary doesn’t get the final say.

Many word finders present hundreds of valid but unfamiliar words in a single wall of results. LikelyWord uses US English word-frequency data to place everyday answers closer to the top.

You can still reach less common possibilities. You just won’t have to wade through them first.

Quick answers

Good to know

Is LikelyWord an official game dictionary?

No. Results come from a general US English word-frequency list. Individual games and publishers may use different allowed-word lists.

What does a question mark mean?

In the crossword helper it stands for one unknown square. In the anagram solver and word unscrambler it acts as a blank letter or tile.

Are my searches stored?

No account is needed and LikelyWord does not create a personal puzzle history.

Why might a valid word be missing?

Specialist terms, proper names and words used only by a particular game may not appear in the general English list.
